Man, you do NOT want to get on these girls' bad side. Seniors rule!
Dazed And Confused, Richard Linklater's big(ger) budget follow-up to his generational defining Slacker, always made us happier we were just a wee bit too young to have been the right age to fall prey to the hazing rituals displayed onscreen.

While we did (just) dodge those, we have always identified with the ensemble cast as they all move through different phases of maturity, awkwardly poking their way through their high school experiences hoping to become something better. Well, all of them except for Matthew McConaughey's David Wooderson character, an aging lech who famously says, "That's what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age."

Sound Opinions is hosting a viewing of the movie tonight at the Music Box Theatre. The soundtrack is stuffed with iconic bands and songs from the '70s era and we suspect it's for that reason that it made it's way into their movie viewing series. We like to think the secondary reason it made the cut is because it successfully captured that era of life where most folks find their first true and deep association with pop music, and use it as a tool to light their way through turbulent times.

Dazed And Confused screens tonight, July 21, at Music Box Theatre, 3733 N Southport, 7:30 p.m. $10
