The Sunday Night Sex Show is turning two.
Sunday: The Sunday Night Sex Show is celebrating two years of stories, sage advice and porn store prizes. This nonfiction reading series is yet another one of those monthly events that has been getting more press and growing in popularity as of late. We’re sure the sex theme helps out a bit. On the last Sunday of every month, the Sunday Night Sex Show turns The Burlington into a haven for saucy and sex-positive stories from Chicago area writers. The stories are the main focus, but there’s also trivia, showtunes, prizes from Batteries Not Included and the Treasure Chest, and hosts Robyn Pennacchia and Allen Makere providing answers to anonymous sex questions. Sunday’s event will feature Rachel Collins, Samantha Irby, Monique Lewis and Alex Bonner. We hear these things can get pretty packed, so you if you want a front-row seat, get there early!
Sunday July 25, The Burlington, 3425 W. Fullerton Ave., free

Tuesday: The ever popular Moth returns for yet another StorySlam at Martyr’s. This month, the theme is Persuasions. Those who want to tell a story relating to a theme add their names to the hat at the beginning, and if their name is drawn, they get five minutes to wow the audience and judges with their storytelling skills. A Moth StorySlam can be hit or miss depending on who makes to the stage. Stories are sometimes heartbreaking and oftentimes funny, and a few relate only vaguely to the theme. But if it's a good story, no one really cares. Doors open two hours early and the line starts wrapping around the block long before that, so if you want to snag a ticket, you might need to leave work a little bit early (you can buy a total of two tickets if you’re saving spot for a friend).
Tuesday July 27, Martyr’s, 3855 N. Lincoln Ave., 8 p.m, $7, 21+
