North Coast Music Festival Follows Trend, Adds Afterparties

Since we first wrote about North Coast Music Festival's inaugural lineup announcement, its promoters have blanketed the city with promo material for it. Hit up a major music event and chances are a street teamer is trying to hand you a lineup card that boasts its impressive list of acts. For a festival in its first year, it's impressive to see the extent to which they've spread the word, likening themselves to the city's more established festivals. NCMF took yet another page from its predecessors by announcing a list of official afterparties they'll be hosting after each day's end.
The preliminary list of afterparties include The Disco Biscuits, California Wives, Boys Noize and New Mastersounds, a decent start to a list that will expand. However, though you may be thinking of taking a familiar route and skipping the festival in lieu of an afterparty, these events are open only to those who buy tickets to the festival. An odd, somewhat alienating move, especially considering some of these shows are nearly as expensive as a single day ticket (and actually more expensive if you check out today's Groupon). We don't think it's the right decision, but we speculate (with absolutely no basis) this policy may change if afterparty ticket sales aren't as expected.
