The comics design challenge closes Aug. 12.
Our friends at Threadless have opened submissions for yet another contest: it’s a little bit about T-shirts and a lot about comics. The winning design will be worn by a character in an upcoming issue of New York Times Bestselling comic, Chew. Plus, the winner gets an iPad with 10 free downloads, a mini-library of graphic novels, and original artwork from Chew artist Rob Guillory. And of course, in true Threadless fashion, the top design will be printed on a shirt, and the winner gets a hefty pile of cash and Threadless credit.

The contest and all its glorious prizes are made possible by partnerships with Graphic.ly, Challengers Comics, and Chew author John Layman and artist Rob Guillory. Thanks partly to the Threadless warehouse manager’s life-long passion for comics, the company is expanding its reach in the comics world. Last week, Threadless celebrated the launch of “Comics on Tees”; a series of four front-and-back t-shirts (issues) curated and written by Jill Thompson.

Although the winning design will be chosen ultimately be chosen by a panel of Threadless judges and a representative of the promotion sponsors, you’re welcome to rate the designs. And if you’d like to submit your own design, the contest closes August 12 at 11:59 p.m. CST.
