It was an eventful morning in the Clybourn Corridor of Lincoln Park this morning as members of the CPD's Bomb and Arson squad responded to a report of a grenade tied to a pole outside General Iron Industries at 1909 N. Clifton Ave. A police spokesman told media that the grenade "appeared to be intentionally placed there." As opposed to the routine accidental misplacement of a grenade. The report was first called in just before 7 a.m. and by 7:30 a.m., foot and vehicle traffic around the area was blocked. Around 8:20 a.m. they destroyed the grenade and by 8:45 a.m., though police were still on the scene, traffic was being allowed back in the area. CBS 2 reported earlier that the grenade was live but the Tribune said officials hadn't yet confirmed that.
