By Chuck Sudo in Food on Aug 4, 2010 3:20PM

2010_08_dietzler.jpg Dietzler Farms, one of the best suppliers of beef in the Midwest, is one of the more popular destinations for farm dinners near Chicago. They were the site of an Outstanding in the Field dinner Monday night with Vie's Paul Virant handling the cooking duties, and tickets are still available for an October dinner with City Provisions.

Dietzler is also hosting a farm dinner Saturday with chef Michael McDonald and the staff of one sixtyblue, which is currently being renovated. Round-trip transportation will be provided between the restaurant and Dietzler. Once there, guests will be led on a tour of the farm at 4 p.m., followed by dinner at 5. Dietzler's beef is only one component of the dinner. Other courses include Rushing Waters smoked trout and tarragon-Dijon dressing,.and Becker Lane pulled pork ravioli in a smoked tomato sauce with Dunbarton blue cheese. Beer and wine pairings will be provided for each course in the four-course dinner.

The cost of the farm dinner is $150, which is right within the range of the City Provisions dinners. Interested in attending? Call one sixtyblue at 312-850-0303
