One Killed, 15 Hurt In Overnight Shootings

Earlier in the evening, a 15-year-old boy, a 23-year-old woman, and a 23-year-old man were shot around 7:44 p.m. in the South Side Bronzeville neighborhood in the 3700 block of South Indiana Street, police said. A vehicle traveling eastbound on 37th Street shot at the three victims, hitting all of them in either the leg or the foot. They were taken to John J. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
Later in the evening, a 20-year-old woman was shot at 11:23 p.m. while attending an outdoor party in the 1600 block of North Kedvale Avenue. She was taken to Stroger Hospital and is listed in "stable" condition. At 11:45 p.m., an 8-year-old boy was shot while riding in the backseat of his family's car that was traveling southbound at 65th Street and Western Avenue. The boy suffered a graze wound to the head and his mother drove him to Holy Cross Hospital. He's currently listed in good condition.
As the evening turned into Sunday morning, the shootings continued. A 25-year-old man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital after he was shot in the back at 12:15 a.m. while walking in the 6400 block of South King Drive. Fifteen minutes later, a 22-year-old man was shot in the 6900 block of South Talman Avenue and taken to Holy Cross. Ten minutes later, another 22-year-old man was shot in the 3700 block of East 107th Street and taken to Stroger Hospital.
At 1:45 a.m., a man was shot while walking near 103rd Street and Wentworth Avenue. A little over an hour later, a man in his 20s was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital after police found him lying on the ground in the 0 to 100 block of South Leamington Avenue with a gunshot wound to the head. At 2:58 a.m., a 21-year-old man was shot in the foot in the 2500 block of West 63rd Street and taken to Holy Cross. The final shooting of the night occurred at 3:34 a.m. when a 41-year-old man was shot in the left shoulder while sitting in his car in the 7100 block of South Racine Avenue. He was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital. All of the shootings are still being investigated by Wentworth, Calumet, and Grand Central Area detectives.
