Fire, Red Bull Draw
For all that hype leading up to Sunday's match, enough to draw 21,868 fans to Toyota Park for the largest Fire crowd at the stadium ever, there wasn't a whole lot of scoring. None, in fact, as the Red Bull and Fire fought to a 0-0 draw on Sunday night at Toyota Park. There were, however, plenty of scoring chances, especially for the Red Bull who took 22 shots, 9 of which were on target. With all the talent on the field, it was 21-year-old Fire goalie Sean Johnson who made the difference coming up with several big saves, five in the second half. The Fire are now off for 10 days until they host New England at Toyota Park on August 18 (7:30 p.m., My50).
The Sox and Cubs, after the jump
Sox Fall To O's Again
With a big series again the Twins approaching, the Sox really wanted to head into it with a win but came out of their series with the Orioles on a losing note, falling 4-3 to Baltimore. The Sox found themselves down 3-1 heading into the ninth when Ramon Castro belted a two-run shot to bring them within a run but the rally still fell short for the Sox. Mark Buehrle took the loss for the Sox who now sit only a half-game ahead of the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central. But before they head home to face the Twins, the Sox have one more game in Baltimore tonight as they go for the series split (6:05 p.m, CSN).
Cubs Crap The Bed Again
The Reds beat the Cubs 11-4. Who cares?
