DOWNLOAD THEN SEE: Admiral Radley

2010_08_admiral_radley.jpg Admiral Radley is the new project from Jason Lytle and Aaron Burth of Grandaddy and Aaron Espinoza and Ariana Murray of Earlimart ... and it sounds pretty much exactly like what would happen if you melded those two bands. It's gauzy, fuzzy, slightly psych-y California dream pop custom built as the soundtrack to an Indian summer. It's a welcome warm rush that creeps up behind you and slowly envelopes you in its embrace.

There's a melancholy that runs through Admiral Radley's debut album, I Heart California, but it's not sad. Instead it's a resignation that the world around you is the way it is, and that there's not much you can do about it other than do your best to observe and live inside of experience. It's the sound of grown-ups channeling the sound of youthful optimism through the tempering of years of experience.

It's delicate and powerful and a fitting vehicle for the four members that make up the group to continue their already impressive legacies from within.
