Today's Weather: Sweltering

By Marcus Gilmer in News on Aug 12, 2010 12:00PM

Yes, it is indeed too damn hot for a penguin. And for a lot of people, too. We've tried our best to love you, Summer of 2010, and we've really enjoyed your warm, sweaty embrace. You've made us almost forget about the long, dark, cold Summer of 2009 so, come on. Let off the gas a bit. We're about to head into a two-day period which may be the hottest stretch we've seen all year. So hot that the Weather Wizards at the National Weather Service have issued an Excessive Heat Warning through tomorrow night. High temps will be in the low 90s and the heat index is expected to easily cross 100. Oh, and it's nice and humid, too. This is the first Excessive Heat Warning for the city since 2006 and with today's heat we'll hit 42 straight days with a high temperature of 80 degrees or higher, leaving us just 14 short of tying Joe Dimaggio's record.
