Chicagoist Weekend Blotter

By Prescott Carlson in News on Aug 15, 2010 8:30PM

  • A Carpentersville man, attempting to hide drug contraband during his arrest, gave new meaning to the term "crack pipe."
  • A downstate Illinois man came up with an unusual defense in a sexual assault case against him, claiming that he was sleepwalking and wasn't aware of what he was doing. And guess what? It worked.
  • Chicago police shot two different men in two different incidents late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, in less than four hours of each other.
  • If you're going to drive away from the scene of an accident because you're afraid of getting a DUI, be sure to not leave your license plate behind.
  • This guy had better look out for random lightning bolts -- a man was charged with prying open donation boxes at two churches and stealing the contents.
  • People are putting out some bad karma this weekend -- first robbing churches, now somebody stealing the wedding and engagement rings off a dead woman's finger.
