Adoptable Pets of the Week

By Kevin Robinson in Miscellaneous on Aug 18, 2010 6:00PM

It's Wednesday, and that means pets here at Chicagoist. And don't forget, if you don't see a pet you love here, there are still lots of dogs and cats at Chicago's Animal Care and Control that still haven't been adopted.

The day after last week's post ran, the ACC received over 50 cats from a hoarder home, and is now inundated with animals. They've been able to send some to local shelters to relieve the overcrowding, but they desperately need people to come adopt pets into loving homes.

Cherie Travis, Chicago Commissioner of Animal Care and Control (whom you can follow on Facebook to keep up to date on what's happening at ACC), has asked that we feature a few special dogs this week. We'll run more tomorrow. As always, the adoption fee is $65.00 which includes spay/neuter, vaccines, a microchip and a city license, and all cats are screened for FIV. If you have room in your heart and your home for these pets, Chicago Animal Care & Control, at 2741 S. Western Ave in Chicago, is open for adoptions Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. You can visit in person, are call or email Patty Cerny, adoption volunteer, at (773) 230-2542 or email at graz97 [at] aol [dot] com.

And remember: plenty of the previous animals we've featured are also still available for adoption.
