Weekend Dance Party: Just Desserts #9 Hits Lincoln Hall

2010_08_19_justdesserts9.jpg With Weekend Dance Party slowly crawling its way out of infancy, we will be the first to admit we've had some questionable omissions along the way. It's not neglect or a lack of knowledge that's caused these lapses in judgment (or so we'd like to think), it's the fact that so much quality stuff floods this city on a regular basis that we can't possibly cover it all. Nevertheless, it's time we include some people that should have been included from day one. This week's pick is the ninth installment of Clayton Hauck's Just Desserts and features a prime-cut bill of Willy Joy, Charlie Glitch (Ghetto Division), Kid Color, Gemini Club, Just Desserts and Action/Adventure. To Willy Joy, Charlie Glitch: welcome to the party. Sorry it's taken us this long.

Hauck's Just Desserts has seen success at Lincoln Hall, and this ninth incarnation stands as one of the best bills to date. Willy Joy has all but solidified himself as the city's top DJ, particularly due to his ability to command a crowd of any walk of life. He's also got a knack for producing quality tunes, the most recent of which have been released on the indie label Trouble & Bass. He'll be spinning at the Mad Decent Block Party earlier that day, so you have two chances to see this guy work his magic. Along Willy Joy are Charlie Glitch, Kid Color, Gemini Club, Just Desserts and Action/Adventure, who will spin everything from ghetto house to disco to indie rock to hip-hop to electro. It's not often nights can afford this much variety and a lineup to back it up, so this is a pick we especially suggest you not miss.

Just Desserts 9, Saturday, Lincoln Hall, 10:30 p.m., $5, 18+
