Cubs Snap Losing Streak
The Cubs snapped their five-game losing streak with a 5-4 win over the Braves at Wrigley on Saturday. Aramis Ramirex and Tyler Colvin each had two RBI in the winning effort. The team seemed to be cruising, up 5-1 late after Tom Gorzelanny allowed just one run over seven innings. But rookie Andrew Cashner continued to struggle, allowing three runs in the eighth and making the game closer than it needed to be. The Cubs try to salvage the series against the Braves this afternoon with Randy Wells taking the mound (1:20 p.m., WGN).

Sox Split DH Against Royals
The Sox seemed on their way to an easy win in game one of their doubleheader against the Royals last night but wound up on the losing end 6-5 in 11 innings. Up 5-1, Sergio Santos gave up a game-tying grand slam in the seventh inning and the Royals scored the game-winner off of Bobby Jenks in the 11th. In game two of the doubleheader, it was the Sox coming from behind for an extra inning win, edging the Royals 7-6 in 10. The Sox jumped out to a 3-0 lead only to see the Royals take the lead back 4-3 in the fourth. Ramon Castro homered and Alex Rios singled in a run in the sixth to take the lead back only to have the Royals, again, fight their way back and tie the game at 6-6 in the bottom of the ninth. But a Juan Pierre double in the 10th drove in Gordon Beckham to help secure a Sox victory. The upshot of the long, late night for the Sox? They gained a little ground on the Twins, gaining back a half-game and now trail by four in the AL Central. The Sox try to rally some energy this afternoon in the series finale with John Danks getting the start (1:10 p.m., CSN).

Dynamo Trip Up Fire
The Fire lost a wild one in Houston last night as the six goals were scored in the second half and the Fire fell 4-3. Houston scored first in the match to take a 1-0 lead and would score again in the opening minutes of the second half for a 2-0 lead. Calen Carr took a pass from Freddie Ljungberg in the 55th minute and scored the Fire's first goal cutting the lead in half, but Houston's Brian Ching would answer a few minutes later with the second leg of his hat trick to put Houston back up 3-1 on a magnificent bicycle kick. Patrick Nyarko got all up in Bobby Boswell's business and forced and own-goal in the 70th minute and Wilman Conde knotted the game at 3-3 in the 80th minute give new life to the Fire. But it was all Ching for Houston, as he completed the hat trick on a header just past Fire goalie Sean Johnson in the 85th minute, bringing home the win for Houston. After two games in four days, the Fire get a week off before heading to the Pacific Northwest to face Seattle next Saturday night (9:30 p.m., CSN).
