10With: Michael Carroll Wants Alderman Schiller's Seat
By Karl Klockars in News on Aug 24, 2010 3:00PM
When Helen Schiller announced that she wouldn't be seeking another term as the 46th Ward's alderman, after the cheering died down from the Uptown Update offices, the question was: Who's next? The field is beginning to clear somewhat, with a handful of candidates tossing their hats into the ring, and Michael Carroll's hat has been among them for months.
When it's extremely difficult to take out a sitting alderman, why get into the race? Now that the field is clear of incumbents, what does he think of his chances? As a Chicago Police Officer, what does he bring to the campaign that others don't? And because he's a cop, can he do anything other than address criminal issues? How does he handle keeping the streetlights on and sidewalks fixed?
He spent 10With the Chicagoist Podcast Series to talk about all this and more - to listen, just press play: Michael Carroll, candidate for 46th Ward Alderman
Should any other candidates in any ward deign to bend our ears for a few minutes, you know where to find us.
