By Karl Klockars in Miscellaneous on Aug 26, 2010 3:00PM

2010_08_25robotcitylogo.png C-3P0. Tom Servo. Robby. Robocop. Optimus Prime. And we can argue about Deckard, too. All these famous robots have appeared throughout films and stories throughout the years, and despite the centuries-old popularity of robots, there has never before been a brick-and-mortar robotics shop. All that changed when Greg Gilla opened Robot City Workshop on Sheffield in Lakeview.

Why would one build an entire storefront around robots? Exactly what kind of robotics does one sell, and is there any chance we could try taking over the world with some of these? When Skynet does become self-aware, will it happen just steps from where we're enjoying craft beers at Sheffield's? Greg spent a few minutes talking all things servo, microprocessor and Roomba with the Chicagoist Podcast Series.
