Owen Covers Wilco on Upcoming 7-inch

As music fans know, the brothers Kinsella are plenty busy these days. Earlier this year, Joan of Arc, the Chicago-based eclectic collective the brothers founded, released Don’t Mind Control, a compilation of, and introduction to, many Kinsella-affiliated music acts. Then, there’s also the matter of their influential proto-emo group Cap'n Jazz currently making the reunion circuits to much acclaim. But, just before Cap'n Jazz makes their final victory lap, one Kinsella brother, Mike, is set to release a tiny morsel of new music. Owen, Kinsella’s folk-tinged project, will release a 7-inch, Abandoned Bridges, on September 28. Bridges will come in a limited edition of 1,000 white-colored copies.

The release comes just a shade over a year after Owen’s last full-length, the underrated New Leaves. While new music from Owen is always welcome, Bridges is particularly noteworthy in that its B-side is a cover of Wilco's “I’m Always In Love,” the classic Summerteeth track. We’re definitely curious to see what Kinsella does with that one. On one hand, New Leaves’ lush production and psychedelic-colored alt-country arrangements seem to astutely follow Summerteeth’s artistic path. A straightforward cover would be a neat way of acknowledging that possible influence. On the other, a stripped-down take would more suit the vibe of the released title track, which you can download below. Either way, color us excited.
