Any Chicago Public Schools student that shows up for the first day of classes this Tuesday, September 7, will receive a family pass to the Museum of Science and Industry--an incentive being used to increase attendance on the first day.

The passes--which are being given out to students in kindergarten through 12th grade--are good for up to three free admission tickets to the museum for either children or adults. They can be claimed between September 7 and June 17, although a few blackout periods will apply. This marks the fourth year in a row that the museum has offered the free passes, but it' the first year that students have had such a long window of time to use the passes. Last year, 380,000 family passes were issued through the program. "The museum is happy to offer these passes again as a sign of our commitment to and support of our city's children,'' said museum President David Mosena to the Chicago Sun-Times.
