Your Mayoral Stakes Update

Here's a quick update on the latest developments among the slew of mayoral candidates circling for a shot at City Hall. This thing has turned real crazy real fast.
- Rahm Emanuel still hasn't declared one way or the other - and likely won't until after the mid-term elections - but that won't keep us all from speculating. According to a report from WBBM 780 AM today, Rahm is "carefully evaluating the idea of launching a campaign." Well I'm glad we sorted that out.
- According to CBS 2's Mike Puccinelli, there are two more names that are weighing throwing their hats into a very crowded ring: former U.S. Sen. Carol Moseley Braun and Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas. Braun's given the idea some thought before - in 2007 - and apparently had a "falling out" with MayDay after she endorsed U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush in 1999.
- Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer could be jumping into the fracas as well. Gainer took Quigley's spot on the board after he won the special election to replace Rahm in the 2nd District. She's also been an analyst in the city Budget and Management Department and we know how the budget turned out.
- One person not interested? Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett, who mentioned this on, of all avenues, The View. Said VJ, "I want to do what I'm doing. I don't want to change jobs. I love my job." And why not? If Rahm leaves, maybe she gets a promotion.
