Flores In For Mulling Run For Mayor, But Not Yet

2010_01_04_flores.jpg Windy Citizen's Anna Tarkov is reporting a "credible source" as saying former 1st Ward alderman Manny Flores is going to join the run for mayor. Flores left the City Council in January to head the Illinois Commerce Commission. Given the rumors and conjecture that have been flying around the past week about who's in, who's out, and who's just mulling a run, we're skeptical until we hear it straight from the candidate's mouth, but considering Flores' role in previous issues like the TIF Sunshine ordinance, a run at mayor wouldn't be that big of a surprise.

UPDATE: I talked a few moments ago with Flores himself who told me that there is currently no formal announcement planned for a campaign. Flores has issued a statement, saying: "At this time Manny Flores is considering a run for mayor but right now is focused on reflecting on the issues the city is confronting."
