While we actually have some nice things to say about Weezer's latest album Hurley, it can't be a great sign when the first massive tour Weezer is mounting after its release is a sentimental revisiting of the band's first two albums. Of course that should have been obvious when it was announced a few weeks ago that the band was going to be releasing a deluxe re-issue of Pinkerton, huh?
During this tour, in each town they visit the band will perform The Blue Album on one night and Pinkerton on the other along with a smattering of their greatest hits. Of curse since it's Weezer, and Rivers Cuomo can't seem to do anything at this point without the inclusion of at least one irritant to upset fans in every announcement, their Chicago stop will be at the abysmal sounding and sightline-impaired Aragon Ballroom on January 7 and 8, 2011. We were really hoping that when this tour hit town they would opt for a fan-friendlier venue, but we'll take what we can get. Tickets go on sale October 9 through Ticketbastard.
