Cubs Roll Against 'Stros
It was the Casey Coleman show last night as the youngster threw seven scoreless innings and doubled in a run as the Cubs dispensed Houston 2-0. Coleman scattered six hits and struck out only two across the seven innings of work but he shut down Houston as the Cubs continued to roll under interim manager Mike Quade. Carlos Marmol pitcheda thankfully drama-free ninth for his 38th save of the season. The Cubs have won 4 of 5 and look to play out the season on a high note when they take on the 'Stros in game two of the weekend series later this evening (6:05 p.m., WGN).
Tribe Trip Up Sox
Cleveland used a pair of big innings early to build a lead the Sox weren't able to overcome in a 7-3 loss to the Indians. Tony Pena gave up six runs on nine hits over six innings to take the loss for the Sox. Brent Morel's solo homer in the second was about the only offensive spark the Sox had last night. Said the rookie, "I'm thankful for the opportunity to be up here and getting a chance to play every day and letting them see what I can do. It doesn't really matter how I do this year. It's more about them getting a feel with me." The Sox hope to bounce back in the second game of their final series later tonight (6:05 p.m., CSN).
