Morning Box Score: Sox, Cubs Close Out Season

By Chuck Sudo in News on Oct 4, 2010 1:00PM

White Sox 6, Indians 5: Alexei Ramirez had a home run and three RBI to help the Pale Hose close out an 88-74 campaign and earn Ozzie Guillen his 600th victory as Sox manager. Edwin Jackson went 5-2/3 innings to earn his fourth win since coming to the Sox in a trade with Arizona. Before the game, Paul Konerko and AJ Pierzynski ran out to their positions in the field to standing ovations from the crowd; both are in free agent years.

Astros 4, Cubs 0: The World Series drought is now at 102 years and counting. Carlos Lee homered and Tommy Manzella drove in two runs to chase Ryan Dempster in a battle for fourth place in the NL Central. Dempster did tie a career high in making his 34th start and Mike Quade finished the season with a 24-13 record as the interim manager for Lou Piniella, hopefully earning himself an interview for the permanent position with Jim Hendry in the off-season, if not interviews for other vacant manger jobs throughout the majors. The Subs finished the season with a 75-87 record overall.
