The Art Institute of Chicago highlights its holdings with the photo exhibit “Chicago Cabinet: Views from the Street,” opening October 16. Featuring seven artists who focused on the city’s street life, the exhibit includes photographs by Walker Evans, who shot the city in 1946 for Fortune magazine; images of Chicago in the 1950s from Yasuhiro Ishimoto, Ray K. Metzker, and Arthur Siegel; and urban landscapes in the 1970s from David Plowden, Luis Medina, and Gary Stoch. For lunch, The Gage, a gastropub, is a popular choice with foodies looking to eat near the museum.
