New Party Loose Change Gets Fresh

Recurring events/nights/parties are a dime a dozen in Chicago. Check out a venue's website and there's surely a night this week on their event calendar that signifies some perpetual, self-described "very best, amazing, outrageous, balls-to-the-wall" party. So when I let you in on one of the newest ones, you might politely scroll past, tired of the same old. But don't. What I have for you is a little different; a little nostalgic and a little fresh at the same time. It goes by the name of Loose Change and its first night is this Thursday at The Continental in Humboldt Park.
Started by an artist collective of the same name, Loose Change is headed by Moneypenny, Gemini Club, Kid Color and Only Children. All have been considerable players in the local music scene in the past year, throwing parties that include One Night Stand, Life During Wartime and Dollar Disco. Those parties have been some of the best the city has seen in 2010, pummeling us with an onslaught of party jams, disco, house and indie electro. These sounds all meld into one at Loose Change, which will also feature pinball, old school arcade games and pool--just to get you on that nostalgic tip. The figurative cherry on top is the cheap drinks to keep you properly sauced, as we like to say. The jams run all night from 10:00pm to 4:00am, so bring your party hat.
Loose Change is Thursday, October 7, at The Continental, 2801 W. Chicago, 10 p.m., FREE, 21+
