Riot Fest: Saturday And Sunday

By aaroncynic in Arts & Entertainment on Oct 7, 2010 8:40PM

On Tuesday, we gave you a look at the first few days of Riot Fest. The marathon punk festival will continue on Saturday and Sunday with equally impressive shows at the Congress, Metro, Double Door and Subterranean. Both days feature a series of nearly impossible choices.

Saturday begins early in the afternoon at the Congress a trip back in time to the late 90's era of ska punk and hardcore. Ska punkers Less Than Jake will play their 1996 album Losing Streak from start to finish and southern California skate punk legends Pennywise will headline alongside the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. We'll be on hand to interview a reunited Snapcase. Be sure to show up early - the show starts at 3pm and features many more exciting acts including Anti-Flag. Elsewhere, emo rockers Cap'n Jazz will play their final Chicago show ever at the Metro along with the Smoking Popes while Subterranean has the rockabilly stylings of the Gravetones and Riverboat Gamblers. Circle Jerks frontman Keith Morris’s other project OFF! plays the Double Door with the Cro-Mags.

Sunday closes out the fest with more ska at the Subterranean, featuring skinhead moonstomp 2 tone legend Roy Ellis. If metal is more your taste, head to the Metro for High on Fire with Torche and nerd metalheads Droids Attack. The real excitement though, will be at the Double Door, where Touch and Go artists Negative Approach headline with the Zero Boys and the Meatmen.

Early next week we’ll have reviews and photos from the shows we’re fortunate enough to attend and an interview with Snapcase. If you have pictures, please share them in our photo pool.
