New Poll Shows Brady Ahead of Quinn

A new poll conducted by the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute at Southern Illinois University finds Bill Brady holding a nine-point lead over Governor Pat Quinn as the gubernatorial race heads into its final weeks. Which begs the question: How milquetoast does Pat Quinn have to be to be trailing Brady?

The poll reinforces the "blue city, red state" split between Chicago and the rest of Illinois. Quinn holds a comfortable lead over Brady in Chicago, while Brady retains a 35 percent to 29 percent edge over Quinn in the suburbs. Downstate, Brady outpolled Quinn by a 2-1 margin.

The same poll showed the Senate race between Alexi Giannoulias and Mark Kirk to be a dead heat.
