Noted atheist and activist Rob Sherman is at it again. This time he's circulating petitions In Buffalo Grove to challenge longtime village clerk Janet Sirabian in the next election.

Sirabian has been the Buffalo Grove clerk for 31 years; that's a tenure that makes Richard Daley's mayoral terms (pick a Daley) seem like an extended lunch break. Sherman is on record as saying that he doesn't really want the job. He's just running because he feels Sirabian is slipping in her job responsibilities recently. Sherman has called for a 32-year term limit in a press release, and cited examples of the 69-year-old Sirabian's declining faculties, such as losing a tape recording of a village finance committee meeting in 2005 and the keys to the town hall last year.

It wouldn't be beyond Sherman to be targeting Sirabian just to piss off an old lady. Sirabian, for her part, seems to agree; she's stopped speaking to Sherman since he announced his intention to seek her office.
