Despite all the hype surrounding Sleigh Bells, the Brooklyn noise pop duo has yet to disappoint us. Their wildly anticipated debut album Treats rocked our faces clean off back in May with its mixture of digital hardcore, hip-hop beats, and girly pop vocals. We even named “Rill Rill” one of our summer jams of 2010. And their set at Pitchfork this summer proved that, despite a whole lot of technical difficulties, they could deliver that same abrasive, frantic, yet charismatic sound outside of the studio.

Now with more touring under their belt and more on-stage practice, the duo has built a strong reputation for its explosive live performance. Sure, the only actual live components on stage are guitar and vocals with pre-recorded backing tracks playing from a laptop, but these kids have a fervid, infectious energy that really gets the crowd moving. And, of course, it helps that their beat-heavy, loud-as-hell, yet pop-sensible sound can incite both a sweaty dance party and a moshpit simultaneously.

Sleigh Bells has been touring with LCD Soundsystem the past couple weeks, serving as the opening band for the first half of the lengthy tour. But tomorrow they’ll part from Soundsystem’s tour as planned and continue on trekking the states for their own headlining tour, bringing along quickly rising Denver-based electro artist Pictureplane to open. They’ll be making a stop here in Chicago Wednesday, October 27 for a late night show at the Metro. Tickets are surprisingly still available, so get to clicking and pick yours up before they sell out.

Sleigh Bells plays Wednesday, October 27 at the Metro, 3730 N Clark, 11:59 p.m., $11, 18+
