Weekend Dance Party: Mike Relm, Tittsworth Hit House Of Blues

By Jake Guidry in Arts & Entertainment on Oct 14, 2010 7:00PM

2010_relm.jpg Intrepid video mixing, classic bmore, Chicago house and electro. These are a few of the centerpoints this Friday at House of Blues, an unlikely spot for a Weekend Dance Party pick. But nevertheless, we picked it; besides, when you book both Mike Relm and Tittsworth to headline, along with some solid local talent, the whole when and where dynamic begins to not matter. What it comes down to is that tomorrow night's show will be full of prime dance music, making House of Blues a sure-thing destination to put your footwork to the test.

Mike Relm isn't your typical DJ. In fact, he's more of a VJ - a video jockey. Relm takes videos like the famous "Oh Face" clip from Office Space and "Charlie Bit Me" and reinterprets them into viable, fun pieces of music. For Relm, YouTube is his oyster, and each impending lip-sync sensation is raw source material. Really, he's quite entertaining and we suggest you take a look at a few of his videos littered throughout YouTube. He'll be joined by D.C.-based Tittsworth, a well-traveled individual in the DJ game. He's been an integral part of the bmore movement and is known for incredible remixes and original tunes, including some work with Chicagoans Kid Sister and Kanye West. He's a man not to be missed on the DJ circuit.

Rounding out the night are local cats Dani Deahl, Willy Joy and Zebo, whom will help keep the night rocking.

Mike Relm, Tittsworth is Friday, House of Blues, 329 N. Dearborn, 9 p.m., $15 tickets, 17+
