Thanks to an ongoing economic slump and a boom in foreclosures, a 40% stake in a four story warehouse at 1735 N. Ashland Ave. is going to be auctioned off by Sheldon Good and Company, "America's Real Estate Auctioneer."

Normally a foreclosure auction of an architecturally boring warehouse wouldn't be news, but in this case the building in question is known far and wide by anybody that regularly drives on the Kennedy Expressway. That's because it's the Bank of America "Mural Building," which features regularly updated murals along its north and west sides, easily seen by Kennedy commuters as they approach North Avenue.

As noted by Chicago Real Estate Daily, one of the more memorable murals was put up during the Chicago Bulls' heyday in 1996 and featured a larger than life Dennis Rodman pimping for the now shuttered men's store Bigsby & Kruthers. The murals are currently directed solely by Bank of America, which owns the rights to plaster the outside of the building however they see fit (BoA also leases space inside).

The auction will take place on November 8.
