Morning Box Score: Hossa, Sharp Lift Blackhawks Past Blues

By Chuck Sudo in News on Oct 19, 2010 1:30PM

Blackhawks 3, Blues 2 (OT): Hours after being named the NHL's "Second Star of the Week," Marian Hossa made a case for why he should have been named first star. Hossa erased a two-goal deficit in the third period and Patrick Sharp scored the game winner 3:50 into the overtime period as the Blackhawks suddenly find themselves with a three-game winning streak and a division-leading nine points in seven games.

Hossa and Sharp are the main reasons for the Hawks' rebound. Hossa leads the league in scoring with seven goals and eleven points in seven games, while Sharp has six goals, five in the past three games. But it's Hossa who's provided the spark early in the season, playing like the right wing the Hawks expected when they signed him as a free agent last season and like a man determined to have his name etched on Lord Stanley's Cup once again.

Next up for the Blackhawks: the rival Vancouver Canucks. The Blackhawks and Canucks beat each other up in last season's playoffs and seriously do not like each other. The puck drops at 8 p.m. tomorrow.
