Last Minute Plans: Ebert Tweets a Play

By Rob Christopher in Arts & Entertainment on Oct 20, 2010 4:00PM

2010_10_20playgroundtheater.jpg Roger Ebert has taken to Twitter with a vengeance, not only covering movie-related stuff but also wading into the deep waters of Trib shenanigans and politics (check out this zinger about the Anita Hill/Mrs. Clarence Thomas flap). His tweets are just about as entertaining as 140 characters can be.

The Playground Theater certainly thinks so. In fact, they're willing to fashion a play (of sorts) out of them. Their popular Wednesday night show, The Tweet Life, uses one person's tweets as its basis; the tweets are read directly on stage and are then used as suggestions for a 100% improvised show lasting 30-35 minutes. Tonight's edition will be based on Ebert's tweets--in fact, Roger himself has given his blessing. So, what will tonight's show be like? Will his wry anti-Palin comments and the ongoing saga of why he didn't see Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World be part of the fun? Only one way to find out.

The Tweet Life is tonight, October 20, at The Playground Theater, 3209 N. Halsted, 10 p.m., $10.
