McDonald's Profits Soar, Stock Value Rises

McDonald's continues to give its stockholders reason to squeal. The Oak Brook-based company saw its profits for the third quarter increase by 10 percent, exceeding expectations and outpacing the company's performance for the same time frame last year.
The main factors for the increase in performance have been a 6 percent increase in global same-store sales, the introduction of new menu items such as smoothies and frappes and the continued strength of the Golden Arches' Dollar Menu in a weak economy.
