2010_10_22_simplymingonepotmeals.jpg Say what you will about the Food Network’s culinary programming, we are still suckers for Iron Chef. We always welcome new, quality chefs who join the cast. Some of us have a mini-crush on last year’s new cast member, Chef Michael Symon - swoon.

So, if you are anything like us, don’t miss the opportunity to meet one of “The Next Iron Chef” contestants, Chef Ming Tsai, at a free book signing and cooking demonstration at The Chopping Block (Merchandise Mart) on Monday, November 1st.

Need a reason to attend? We’ll give you four and none of them involve the Food Network (for the haters):

  • It’s one pot meal time and Ming’s new book will set you up for the season with, “Simply Ming One Pot Meals: Quick, Healthy & Affordable Recipes.”
  • Chef Tsai is a pioneer in the East-meets-West culinary movement. He has won accolades from the James Beard Foundation as a Best Chef Northeast and an emmy for his television show “East Meets West with Ming Tsai.” He knows his stuff and he has cred.
  • Customer Appreciate Day at Chopping Block offers you 20% off the entire store. We’ve been eyeing a Boss chopping block.
  • It’s free and includes wine tastings, product samples and hors d’oeurves.

The details: Monday, November 1st from 5pm - 7pm at The Chopping Block at The Merchandise Mart, Suite 107 (312.644.6360), at the corner of Kinzie and Wells.
