Red Light Camera Blues? There's an App for That®

By Sean Stillmaker in News on Oct 23, 2010 4:45PM

We know red light cameras are a money making machine. We also know there’s an app for almost anything. The two ideas have now combined forces to empower citizens and prevent tickets. Cobra has created a RLC and radar detector that’s compatible with its free iPhone app. Cobra iRadar alerts users of upcoming RLC spots and radar. Users can log alert history with a plethora of control options. The detector is sold at most electronic stores ranging from $149-170.

If prevention doesn't work the newly found best weapon in protest is that the RLC intersection is not in compliance with IDOT regulations. All traffic signal heads must be 12 inches in diameter with LED lights to see better. Chicago is exempt from this regulation. But Fox news has found three RLC intersections so far in surrounding suburbs that are noncompliant.
