Eddie Hardy, 45, of the 7100 block of South Indiana Avenue, was arrested for selling heroin out of a Motel 6 room in Calumet Park, where a loaded handgun was also discovered. Hardy was charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. He was held on $150,000 bond on Saturday by Cook County Criminal Court Judge Panarese.

A cooperating witness initially told police that Hardy was selling large amounts of heroin out of his Motel 6 room, according to a police report via the Chicago Sun-Times. The witness called Hardy to place an "order" for two grams of heroin and Hardy agreed to sell it to him, telling the witness to get a door key from the front desk clerk to enter his room. The witness went with officers to the room, used the key to enter, and spotted Hardy lying on his bed with bags of heroin on top of a desk. The arrest report listed Hardy as being 500 lbs and the drugs as valued at $5,850, according to police.

A loaded handgun was also found on the floor next to the bed, and officers also discovered $1,516, a digital scale, a grinder or mixer, and several narcotics baggies. Hardy is scheduled to appear in court on November 9.
