10With Podcast: Rally to Restore Sanity - Chicago (Pt 1)
By Karl Klockars in Arts & Entertainment on Oct 27, 2010 3:20PM
Angie McMahon wants you to come to her social gathering on Saturday. There will be political discussion, comedy, good times, and fellowship. Also, about 5,000 close friends of the Daily Show and Colbert Report should be stopping by, so that'll be fun, too.
The Chicago Rally to Restore Sanity is an unofficial extension of the DC rally, and not sanctioned by the Comedy Central Powers that Be, but that hasn't stopped McMahon and many other organizers around the country from setting up their own local gatherings. So, how does one throw a rally like this together in 6 weeks?
We talked with McMahon about all the things that go into organizing the rally, the fundraising, and just a touch about what they expect to have happen there as well. Why does Chicago need a rally anyways - shouldn't everyone just go to DC? Just how helpful is the city when you tell them you want to bring a few thousand friends downtown on a Saturday morning? We figure all this out and more in the first part of our conversation.
