Gather 'Round the Table - The Remains of the Gourd

By Anthony Todd in Food on Nov 1, 2010 3:20PM

RemainsofPumpkin.png Now that Halloween has passed us by, we can resume thinking of pumpkins as culinary items, rather than decorative ones. The pumpkin in that picture may look depressed, but we are just getting started on the long stretch to Thanksgiving. We've spent a lot of time talking about pumpkins in all their forms over the last week, but the endless possibilities have barely begun to be tapped. Rather than arguing, let us compare notes and share recipes - pick up the phone, let the party line commence.

We're ashamed to admit that pumpkins, squashes and gourds have not been a major part of our culinary endeavors. It's a shame, because they are plentiful, keep forever and are relatively cheap. So, what should we try? Do you have great pumpkin or squash recipes that you come back to every fall? What do you put on your pumpkin seeds to make them extra-tasty? Is there a particular squash that you are really fond of?

Let's move beyond pie and jack-o-lanterns, and start the week off right!
