The public defender assigned to representing William Curl, charged in the murder of NIU student Antinette "Toni" Keller, has requested a psychiatric evaluation of her client.

Public Defender Regina Harris requested the evaluation after speaking with Curl Sunday night. "At this point, my concern is to make sure he's OK and that I cover all the bases, Harris said.

Curl was extradited back to Illinois from Covington, LA, where he was holed up in a motel room and charged with stealing his mother's truck. DeKalb police charge that Curl fled the state after missing a scheduled interview in connection with Keller's disappearance.
