Dolinsky Names Best Fries in Chicagoland - Mostly Land

By Anthony Todd in Food on Nov 4, 2010 6:20PM

FriesDolinsky.jpg This morning, Steve Dolinsky posted his list of the top five french fry places in Chicagoland on Vocalo. Dolinsky expanded the list to the suburbs, but may have gone a little too far - out of five, only two are actually in the city. The two lucky Chicago fry joints are Hot Doug's (of course) and Top Notch Beefburger. The other three contestants are in Skokie, Evanston and Forest Park.

We certainly don't want to argue with Dolinsky's expertise, and the places he mentions certainly have some great fries. But surely the great city of Chicago can muster more than two note-worthy fry shops! Chicagoist staffers have some great suggestions:

  • DMK Burger Bar (Anthony)
  • The Bristol (Michele)
  • Lillie's Q and Old Oak Tap (Tankboy)
  • Smoque BBQ (Benjy)
  • Luke's Italian Beef (Kevin says, "Eat the beef over the fries, so it drips juice on them. Then eat the fries.")
  • Firefly (Rob)
  • Sola's Parmesan truffle fries (Chuck)

Where are your go-to spots for great fries?
