Rush Dogged By Mortgage, Property Tax Issues

2010_11_4_Rush.gif Congressman Bobby Rush is not only being sued by New City Bank in an attempt to recover more than $600,000 in mortgage loans, he has a delinquent property tax bill with the County Treasurer's office.

Rush said yesterday that he had yet to receive a copy of the lawsuit, in which New City Bank alleges he defaulted on mortgages on two properties for failing to pay property taxes. But he still owes $3,790 in property taxes on his Bronzeville home that he said he intends to pay immediately.

As for the other two properties — a home on the West side and a home in Michigan — Rush's spokeswoman claimed the mortgages were current. But New City Bank said that failing to pay the taxes on each property places them in default.
