Local Assyrians Protests Violence in Iraq

By Chuck Sudo in News on Nov 9, 2010 8:20PM

Yesterday, nearly 1,500 people massed at the Thompson Center to protest the killing of more than 60 people in a church in central Baghdad.

The intent of what was dubbed the "Black March" was to draw attention to the continuing violence in Iraq and to get the attention of officials to the plight of Christians in Iraq. An Iraqi al Qaida offshoot called the Islamic State of Iraq stormed the church, took hostages, then killed many of the captives when police raided the church in an effort to end the hostage situation.
