Suspicious Package Suspends Blue Line Traffic Last Night

Just when the city can't be more on edge about suspicious packages these days, some stupid left a briefcase with wires hanging out of it at the Blue Line Addison stop last night, suspending service and shutting down the Kennedy Expressway for a few hours.

Police were notified of the briefcase around 6 p.m. Blue line trains resumed service around 8:30 p.m., but bypassed the Addison stop while police examined the package. The inbound lanes of the Kennedy were closed south of Irving Park as a precaustion, bringing traffic to a crawl.
