Tuesday Afternoon Diversion: Wild Monk Parakeets

During Emmy's morning walk around McGuane Park in the wunnerful Bridgeport area, we came across four monk parakeets in a tree, just tearing into some crabapples like there was no tomorrow.

the history of monk parakeets in Chicago is well known and they've adapted well to the city's winters especially since their first sightings in Hyde Park 37 years ago. As the video below shows, they aren't just native to Hyde Park anymore.
