Morning Box Score: Hawks Stink Up Home Ice Again: College Baksetball Roundup

Hockey

Coyotes 2, Blackhawks 1: Last year the Blackhawks only lost seven games at the United Center ice during the regular season. They matched that number a month into the season last night, as Phoenix handed the Hawks a 2-1 loss. Kyle Turris and Eric Belanger scored 35 seconds apart in the second period and the hometown crowd booed the Blackhawks at the end of the game.

The play was so bad at points that coach Joel Quenneville benched Norris Trophy winning defenseman Duncan Keith for a spell in the second period for poor play. The annual long November road trip can't come soon enough for the Blackhawks.

College Basketball

Illinois 84, Toledo 45: BRuce Weber's Illini made easy work of Toledo in Champaign. Demetri McCamey led the way for Illinois with 13 points and 8 assists in only 18 minutes of play. The Illini hit their first 10 shots from the field, half of those from the three-point line.

Pittsburgh 97, UIC 54: UIC was the proverbial sacrificial lamb to the fourth-ranked Panthers, who hit the hardwood running and didn't let up on either side of the ball, spoiling the debut of UIC head coach Howard Moore. Pitt shot 70 percent in the second half. UIC was led by K.C. Robbins's 12 points.
