Quinn, Daley Say "No" To Ricketts' Wrigley Renovation Plan

Both Mayor Daley and Governor Quinn rejected the Ricketts family's proposal to renovate Wrigley Field using up to 35 years' worth of amusement tax growth in a bond offering. And it looked like both took very different approaches to do so.
Daley said that he wasn't about to pass on to Rahm Emanuel his successor a plan that forfeits 35 years of tax profits to the Cubs. “We have to really talk about how you finance this without jeopardizing — whether it’s $5 million, $7 million or $8 million of — future growth," Daley said. He also mentioned that he had other ideas to generate the money the Ricketts family is seeking, but din't divulge details.
Quinn, meanwhile, felt more slighted that the Rickettses took the proposal to state House Speaker Michael Madigan and Senate President John Cullerton first than he did with the proposal itself. But Quinn said that any plan to finance a renovation of Wrigley Field will go "under a microscope" given the state's current $13 billion deficit.
