City Cancels City Sticker Vendor Contract

By Chuck Sudo in News on Nov 17, 2010 4:40PM

If you own a sticker company and are looking for a government contract, maybe you should look at the city's parking stickers. That's because the City Department of Procurement Services canceled the five-year, million dollar contract they awarded to SecureMark Decal Company.

The reasons for terminating the contract are unclear, but the smart money is that it stems from a combination of over 77,000 stickers produced by SecureMark that kept falling off windshields; the loss of millions of dolalrs of parking ticket revenue as a result; and SecureMark's inability to promise the city that future stickers they produce would stay adhered to windshields.

The city may go after SecureMark for the lost ticket revenues.
