10With Podcast: Sam Calagione, Brewmaster (Part 1)

While Dogfish Head Brewery is technically in Delaware, and Sam Calagione's new show Brewmaster on Discovery has only tangential connections at best to Chicago, we went ahead and bothered him for an interview anyways. Calagione has been pushing the merits of craft beer since the mid-90s and it only makes perfect sense for him to be the go-to guy when it comes to any sort of beer related broadcast. We picked his brain about Chicago beers and more in this podcast.

In the first part of our conversation, Calagione and I talk about his take on Chicago as a craft beer community and whether or not the city is unfairly tagged as Old Style Central, how the Brewmaster show came about and whether or not it was one big research trip writeoff for him. In tomorrow's episode, we tackle the looming Four Loko question and I try to get Calagione to create onion beer. Somehow, we decide pickle beer is a possibility.
