Driving Tomorrow? Brace For Delays

Between early holiday shopping, folks scrambling to get their Thanksgiving groceries and running errands, tourists coming downtown for the lighting of Michigan Avenue and the Northwestern-Illinois game at Wrigley Field, traffic, to be frank, is going to be a bitch tomorrow.

Actually, if you live around Wrigley Field, it's probably starting now. According to our friends at the Expired Meter, Sheffield is closed until 6 a.m. Sunday from Addison to Waveland. Tomorrow, Waveland Avenue from Sheffield to Seminary will also be closed down at 12:35 p.m. for the game. Addison from Racine to Halsted will be shut down fifteen minutes before the game to allow for the ease of pedestrian traffic from the game and to the bars.

But the real traffic snafu is going to be downtown for the annual lighting of Michigan Avenue for the holidays. The city is preparing for a crowd of nearly 800,000 people to flock downtown for the lighting and parade. If ever there was a day to use public transportation, tomorrow is the day.
